Red Wine Vinaigrette Recipe - The Best Healthy Dressing!
This Red Wine Vinaigrette recipe is such a fabulous healthy dressing made with simple ingredients like red wine vinegar, olive oil, lemon, and spices. It's only 40 calories and it comes together with pantry staples in just a few minutes, making it the perfect healthy vinaigrette recipe for everything from weekday or holiday meals. You can even use it as a marinade.
This Red Wine Vinegar Dressing recipe is fabulous because it features red wine which has a punchier, more vibrant grape flavor than other vinegar. That makes this salad dressing the perfect addition to your recipe book. The flavor of the dressing is fruity, vibrant, and zingy. This dressing is a lot lighter than my balsamic vinegar-based one. It's rich, but still mild enough to go with so many things. It pairs perfectly with anything Italian, Greek, or even Mediterranean. I love it with everything from my Mediterranean Quinoa Salad, Kale Strawberry Salad, Tuscan Melon Salad, or Apple Cranberry Salad.
I enjoy making my own homemade salad dressings over grocery store dressings! Ingredients:
Here's an overview of what you'll need to make this Red Wine Vinaigrette dressing recipe, but keep scrolling for the full recipe amounts.
- Olive oil: Use high-quality oil like extra virgin olive oil. I enjoy ones imported from Italy.
- Red wine vinegar: Red wine vinegar has a bold flavor that makes it perfect in a dressing. Since there are only a few ingredients in this dressing, nice products make a big difference. I love this one. For a more budget-friendly option, try this one.
- Lemon juice: Lemon adds brightness to the dressing. For best results use fresh squeezed lemon.
- Garlic: Garlic adds richness and extra flavor to the dressing. I like to use fresh garlic for this dressing, but you can substitute garlic powder for the fresh garlic. Start with a ¼ teaspoon and see if you need more.
- Dried oregano: Oregano and dried herbs pair well with this dressing and complement the other flavors in the dressing without overpowering. You could also leave it out or substitute it with Italian Seasoning Spice Mix. You can also substitute fresh herbs like parsley or chives.
- Salt and black pepper: Helps to bring out the flavors. I recommend adding the salt and pepper to taste starting with a ¼ teaspoon of each and adding more until you get the flavors you like.

Is oil to vinegar ratio correct? It most dressing, oil is higher than vinegar amount. Typically it's double and here it's the opposite, the vinegar is double the amount
