Hi guys,
Hello from Florida! We are in Sanibel Island all week enjoying a bit of a break from the mountain winter. Follow along in my Instagram stories to see what we are up to this week. Before I left though I worked on some posts for you to enjoy this week.
First up is a little help with cooking good for you food in the kitchen. With the New Year, I know many of you are probably focused on finding ways to be a bit healthier. I know it can be a little overwhelming to WANT to eat and cook healthier and not knowing where to start. I find myself constantly reaching for the same 10 kitchen appliances day in and out... so I thought I'd share what is in my kitchen that I use all of the time to cook healthy. These are my favorite and the best kitchen gadgets for healthy eating. Most of these are staples that you really need to eat good food day in and out!
10 Best Kitchen Gadgets for Healthy Eating
Lemon and Lime Juicer
One of my biggest tricks for eating well is seasoning without a lot of butter or oil. To do that I use lots of seasonings and swear by adding lemon or lime to dishes! It's a great way to freshen almost any dish up. I used to just squeeze my citrus with my hands but I splurged on this gadget a few years ago and never looked back. You get twice as much juice out of the fruit, never have to worry about seeds and it is super easy.
I use citrus in my easy homemade salad dressing, on my seafood, in salsas, or even in side dish veggies like my Lemon Parmesan Roasted Broccoli.
Crock Pot
I still swear by my good old fashioned slow cooker. I'm more of a morning person so I naturally have more energy to prep dinner early in the day, which works great for the slow cooker. My favorite way to guarantee a good dinner on the table is to get the slow cooker going in the morning. That way when you come home exhausted (or put two babies to bed)... dinner is ready and you really don't have to worry about it.
If you are wondering what to make in the crock pot... I have DOZENS of recipes on my site ranging from soups, curry, and even taco quinoa bakes! If you are looking for crock pot recipe ideas for this year START HERE.
If you still need a slow cooker, this one is perfection! It is HUGE, has a timer, and the lid locks on for easy transport.
Ninja Mega Kitchen System
In a world of crappy blenders, this one is worth the splurge. This set can be a food processor, blender, or even an individual blender. It is the perfect tool to create everything from smooth hummus, energy bites, or even smoothies.
Tea Kettle
Instead of drinking high-calorie, processed drinks I live on tea! I got a tea kettle a few years ago and it was a game-changer. It makes getting a cup of hot tea a breeze and I highly recommend having one in any healthy kitchen.
Eating healthy for me means eating lots of fresh produce which I'm constantly chopping. I don't think a day goes by where I am not chopping some sort of fruit or veggies. The Hubs and I splurged for nice knives a few years ago and it was worth every penny.
These Wustof knives will be your best friend in your new healthy kitchen! They are even great for chopping giant, hard squash like spaghetti squash.
KitchenAid Spiralizer
A good spiralizer is one of my favorite healthy kitchen tools! With it, you can make things like my Sheet Pan Shrimp and Zoodles and Baked Curly Sweet Potato Fries. I have THIS ONE that attaches to my mixer and love it.
Big Colander
A big colander is another one of my go-to kitchen tools. Whether to drain pasta or rinse fruits and veggies I pull mine out every day. These collapsible ones are great!
Immersion Blender
Making smooth soups is so easy with this immersion blender! This is a kitchen tool that can be a game-changer when making healthy soups or sauces. Use it to make my 30 Minute Tomato Quinoa Soup.
GOOD Non-Stick Skillets
Not all skillets are created equal and GOOD non-stick skillets can keep you from using excessive butter or oil in your dishes. I love ones that can also be popped in the oven for finishing fish. I use mine nearly every day.
I hope these tools can help you cook healthier this year!

I don't have that exact Ninja blender but I'm obsessed with mine! My parents have a full size one where as I just have the small individual size one and they both work so incredibly well. New knives are on my wishlist but they keep getting pushed back since I know nothing about knives and wouldn't know what to spend my money on.
