Hi guys!
I thought I’d stop in today to show you how my garden is doing so far this year. Catch up with how it started here!
This is your first hint…
My green beans went crazy! You can’t even see the trelllis I put in there. I planted them from just seeds.
The squash is also doing really well. I harvested some yellow squash already and am still waiting on a zucchini and patty pan squash. I hope I get some of those huge zucchini like I did last year! I have a fun idea for a patty pan squash recipe so I hope I get some good ones!
The cucumber is climbing quick and producing just enough cukes for the hubs and I to eat.
The peppers are also doing superb! I’m surprised to have so many already so early in the year. They often appear more in late July and August.
These banana peppers are super yummy on pizza.
And this purple pepper has my name on it! I want to eat it with hummus for lunch.
Finally, my tomato plants are HUGE and producing some tomatoes.
Unfortunately I’m getting some signs of disease at the bottom, so I’m watching them carefully and putting some organic products on them that might help. The tomatoes always seem to need more babying!
My kale and broccoli got attacked by bugs pretty badly and I ended up pulling it out so the bugs didn’t get in everything else in the bed. I’m not sure I will try to grow those again, it didn't go well at all! Luckily everything else is doing really well! It is such a joy to grow your own food.
And finally remember my mint? Mojitos anyone?
Have a wunderful Wednesday everyone!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Tomorrow I’m sharing a recipe for a healthy Peaches and Cream Smoothie and sharing a story about when I actually lived in peach country.
Your turn!
How is your garden doing?
If you had a garden what would you grow?
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
Your garden looks great! We grow some things here, but we get frustrated with squirrels eating a lot of our produce.
JulieWunder says
Oh no! That is the worst! They are cute until they eat my cucumbers!
Jess @hellotofit says
WOW, Julie! Your garden looks wonderful so far 🙂 can't wait to see more progress!
JulieWunder says
Thank you so much Jess!
Blane Sherer says
I liked seeing your garden shots. Yeah, I remember those giant zucchinis that you had last year.
JulieWunder says
Thank you Blane!
Dan says
yep , looks like your garden is doing well , that raised bed technique works , and it helps keep the cats out ( which kills the plants ). . the bean vine , is that a scarlet emperor ? your peppers growing like crazy, good job 🙂 most times if tomatoes start the blossom rot they getting too much water . . beautiful mint plant , I wish I could grow those , , oh , , btw , , nice day lilies from a post the other day 🙂
JulieWunder says
Thanks Dan! I'm not sure what variety of bean it is... I should have kept the packet! I thought I had bought a bush variety... but clearly not! haha! Good thing I had an extra trellis. Thank you!!!
Heather @Fit n Cookies says
Wow!!! I wanted to grow a garden this year but our yard wasn't quite ready for it. I am hoping next year we can get one going too!!
JulieWunder says
Hopefully next year! It's a lot of fun!
Andrea says
Your garden looks great! My tomatoes do that too every year. I try to cut off the bottom ones at the beginning to prevent it from happening too much.
JulieWunder says
Yes! I do that and use this product called Serende. Good luck!
Sue @ This Mama Runs for Cupcakes says
Wow, that is amazing! I wish we had the space to have a garden! Someday we will when we move out of the city!
JulieWunder says
There is good and bad about both places! I do love having my green space though!
Deborah @ Confessions of a Mother Runner says
I am so jealous! I really want my own garden but I am so not a green thumb. Every year I vow to do it!What kind of vegetarian am I?
JulieWunder says
Haha! You should do just a few herbs to start!
Kristen says
I told my husband to mow over our garden this year. Props to you for a beautiful one!
JulieWunder says
Oh no!!! Guess it didn't go so well? It can be tricky!
Nicole @ Fitful Focus says
How awesome!!! So jealous of your garden. I can't wait to have one of my own one day!
JulieWunder says
I hope you get one some day!
Jaime says
I've harvested several tomatoes already. We have peppers and tiny cucumbers, but not enough to pick yet. (And herbs. So many herbs.)
JulieWunder says
Oh yeah, my herbs are crazy! Love them!!! I cook so much better in the summer with them!
Sarah @ Sweet Miles says
I am so jealous right now of all those fresh homegrown veggies!!! I would kill for a fantastic garden! Next house 😉
JulieWunder says
Thanks Sarah! I hope you get one someday!
Annmarie says
What a green thumb you have! Those would not flourish as nicely if I planted them 😉
JulieWunder says
Thanks Annmarie! You might have more luck than you think!
Jamie says
I love that you have your own garden! So gorge : ) I'm more of a black thumb than a green thumb sadly...
JulieWunder says
Oh man! It seems to be one way or another for people! I love growing stuff 🙂
Danyelle Musselman says
So fun! You definitely have a green thumb. Mariah keeps asking to plant some strawberries... you need to come to my house! lol
JulieWunder says
Ok! On my way 🙂
Ivanna says
Your garden looks really great good job! I'd love to grow one myself one day.
JulieWunder says
Thank you! It is such a joy!
Stacie @ SimplySouthernStacie says
Haha! I completely second Susie's comment (as I stare at the lone plant in my office that is pretty much dead). Teach me your green thumb ways, Julie!
JulieWunder says
OK! You can come over too... just don't touch 🙂
Dan Steadman says
parts are doing well, parts not so much....we had most of the garden drown right after we planted and it's been so dry since we replanted, so we are getting a few things, but not like most years
JulieWunder says
It's been so hot, I've been having trouble keeping them wet enough!
Susie @ SuzLyfe says
Gorgeous. Now don't let me near it, I will kill it instantly.
JulieWunder says
Haha! Ok-- you can come over but don't touch.
