Yes! You can work up a sweat walking with my 30 Minute Walking Incline Treadmill Workout.
Hi everyone,
I love running. There are 101 reasons that I love running. But for one reason or another, there are times I can't run or decide not to run. Whether it's a broken elbow, medical stuff or I am just not feeling a pounding workout that particular day... I've learned to embrace a good walking workout when I need it. When my elbow was broken I used walking and my elliptical to stay in shape while running was off the table. This workout was in my regular rotation.
Incline Treadmill Walking Workout
My Walking Incline Treadmill Workout is one I've been doing for years because it keeps me motivated, makes me break a sweat AND gets my heart rate up... something just plain ole walking doesn't always do. Someone shared it with me when I got my first gym membership many, many moons ago in my pre-running days. I thought I'd share it with you because I know there are times when even the most dedicated runners can't run. I also know some of you don't run at all and might enjoy this challenge.
This workout can be easier or harder based on the pace you set for yourself. To start it you set the treadmill at a 0 incline and find a walking pace you can maintain for 30 minutes. The faster you go, the better the workout. If you are a beginner, start slow because the incline gets pretty tough. However if you are a runner, set the 'mill at power walk level.
After three minutes you increase the treadmill incline 1% a minute until you hit 12%, which basically feels like you are on a good hike. The incline builds and burns in a good way. After you walk for a minute at 12% you start going back down 1% a minute until you are back to 0! Once there you should have three minutes to cool down and slow down the treadmill.
Don't forget to do a dynamic stretch before and some good holding stretches afterward. Even though this is just walking, it's still a workout!
This might not sound hard, but it's really a pretty good walking incline treadmill workout! The next time you can't run... give it a try. Or if you read my blog and don't run, but have wanted to get into fitness this is a great place to start.
Happy walking!

Sometimes I like just walking on the treadmill too. I usually do it when I am into a tv show I am watching. Makenna is too cute! She did not want you on that thing!
