Have heartburn? Here's 6 Effective Remedies to Get Rid of Heartburn for Good!
Hi guys!
Hi guys!
I've got a not so glamorous, but equally as important post to share with y'all today! I'm talking about heartburn... that yucky burning feeling in the back of the your throat or esophagus. I'm assuming most of you have had it at one point or another, but some folks struggle with it so badly that it's more of a chronic thing. It can really be a big deal and cause a lot of damage to your body. Even if you've just had it a few times you know how much it can stink! I'm sharing my personal story and tips because I really feel like it could help some of you get rid of heartburn for good.
I didn't talk about it alot, but I had a bad case back when I was dealing with health issues related to losing my voice. On top of all the allergy and throat problems I was having, my esophagus was all messed up and I constantly felt like it was on fire... which meant it was even harder for my broken voice to heal. It was officially a case of GERD, but heartburn went along with it. It was a terrible cycle and pretty serious situation that took me a long time to fix. I was in a lot of pain over it and I know how bad it can make you feel. In the past few years, I've found relief so I wanted to share some of the ways I helped my heartburn naturally and a new medicine that is uber convenient if the natural fixes just aren't cutting it. It's seriously a game changer... so keep reading!
6 Effective Remedies to Get Rid of Heartburn for Good
Smaller Meals
Consider eating smaller Meals. Eating just one or two large, fatty meals can trigger heartburn especially if you are eating fatty food... even healthy fatty foods like avocados. Eating smaller meals is overall better for your health and diet too!
Find Your Trigger Foods
Foods with a lot of acid like tomatoes and oranges can be triggers. Mint and alcohol are also culprits for many. Track what you eat so you can learn what triggers yours. Orange juice was a trigger for my heartburn, so I don't drink as much anymore.
Caffeine & Booze
Limit chocolate, caffeine and alcohol because it can relax the valve between the esophagus and the stomach. Darker roasted beans may be easier to stomach. I know how hard this is because those are three of my favorite things too, but try to reduce them one at a time to see if any of them help.
Drink Water
Drink more water! Water is good for so many things in your body and can even neutralize the acid causing your problems so pour yourself another glass especially when you feel it coming on.
Chew Gum
Gum chewing can produce more saliva, which can help with stomach acid.
Try OTC Meds
I'm all about trying natural remedies, but sometimes your best option is to try some good old fashioned medicine to get relief! There is a new heartburn medicine on the market that is really a game changer for those of us who have frequent heartburn. It's Equate Omeprazole Orally Disintegrating Tablet and it's now available at Walmart.
This is a brand new innovation for treating heartburn symptoms! Omeprazole ODT has the new MELTech formula allowing the tablet to dissolve on your tongue easily. It treats the same heartburn symptoms as Prilosec OTC and comes in a nice strawberry flavor. But even though it's new, it comes at a super affordable price tag at Walmart. <---yaasss!
This tablet treats the same symptoms as the Omeprazole that is currently available but in a dissolving tablet that provides 24-hour heartburn relief. When used as directed for up to 14 days, it may take between 1-4 days for full effect. No glass of water needed for this tablet; take it with you on the go! I would have LOVED to have this when I was working at the TV station and didn't have much time between segments.
Omeprazole ODT can provide long-lasting relief from heartburn, for up to 24 hours and is a great choice for frequent heartburn sufferers.
You take one dose every 24 hours for 14 days. You can even save $3 right now with Ibotta until April 30th. If you suffer from frequent heartburn, this pill is a must try!

Great tips. I feel like the food triggers are huge in minimizing heartburn for sure! I also use a little cider vinegar with meals to help make sure I have enough acid in my stomach to digest things well then the reflux is less troublesome.
