Ingredients:
Here's an overview of what you'll need to make this Cottage Cheese Pizza Bowl, but keep scrolling for the full recipe amounts.
- Cottage Cheese: You can use your favorite brand and type of cottage cheese for the recipe including low fat cottage cheese or full fat cottage cheese. If you use full-fat cottage cheese the recipe will turn out richer and creamier, but I've made it with low fat cottage cheese and it came out great. The low fat option will obviously have fewer calories, so pick the one that matches your dietary goals. You can also use either small curd or large curd since it's getting blended up anyway.
- Garlic Powder: I mix in some garlic powder with the blended cottage cheese to evening distribute the garlic flavoring into the dip.
- Italian Seasoning: Use my Homemade Italian Spice Blend with the perfect mix of dried basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary, marjoram, and dried sage. You can also use your favorite store-bought Italian Spice Blend. I like this one.
- Mozzarella Cheese: You'll need shredded mozzarella cheese or the Italian cheese blend. Use full fat or low fat, either work.
- Parmesan Cheese: Parmesan cheese is a great addition to the pizza bowl for lots of pizza flavorings.
- Marinara Sauce: You'll need your favorite marinara sauce, tomato sauce, or pizza sauce. If you are feeling extra ambitious, make your own with my Crock Pot Marinara, otherwise your favorite jarred kind is great.

This is an overview of the instructions to make this Cottage Cheese Pizza Bowl, but the full detailed printable recipe is below in the recipe card.
Step One: Prepare the Cottage Cheese
- In a high speed blender or food processor, blend 16 ounces of cottage cheese until smooth.
- Stir in the Italian Seasoning, garlic powder, and parmesan cheese to the blended cottage cheese. Check and make sure you don't need to add any salt or black pepper.
Step Two: Assemble the Cottage Cheese Pizza Bowl
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray an 11X7 baking dish or oven-safe bowls with cooking spray.
- In the baking dish, spread the blended cottage cheese mixture you just made on the bottom.
- Next, layer the marinara sauce evenly as shown in the collage below.
- Next, add the mozzarella cheese and any pizza toppings you might want. Sprinkle some extra Italian seasoning on top.

- Serve with a spoon or your favorite dippers.
Variations
I love this Cottage Cheese Pizza Bowl as written, but here are some fun variations.
- Make it a Vegetarian Pizza Bowl: Use vegan pepperoni or veggie toppings like olives, mushrooms, bell peppers, and onions.
- Make it Spicy: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the marinara layer.
- Freshen it Up: Add fresh herbs like basil and oregano.
Make Individual Pizza Bowls:
Follow the same instructions to make the bowl, but quarter the amounts. Prepare the pizza bowl in a small induvial ramekin or bowl. It will only take 5-10 minutes to make the induvial bowl in the stove. You can also make the individual bowls in the microwave by warming them for around 2 minutes. Make sure to prepare them in a microwave safe bowl.
- 4 ounces of cottage cheese which is about ¼ of a container
- ¼ teaspoon of garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon Italian Seasoning
- ¼ cup shredded mozzarella
- 1 tablespoon parmesan cheese
FAQ
Storage & Leftovers
This recipe is best enjoyed fresh because the cheese will have the best consistency. However, you can store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. You can also prep the pizza bowls one day ahead of time and bake them when you are ready to use them.
Freezing
I do not recommend freezing this as the cottage cheese will get a strange consistency.
Is this keto?
Yes! My Cottage Cheese Pizza Bowls are keto, especially if you use full-fat cottage cheese and mozzarella cheese. To keep this low carb or keto, use low carb chips or just skip the chips and use fresh veggies as a dipper. Mini bell pepper or sliced bell pepper tastes great with this.
What is the most common way to eat cottage cheese?
The most common way to eat cottage cheese is plain with fruit as a snack or breakfast, but recently it's become trendy and viral on TikTok to blend cottage cheese and create new flavors with it! I love how this recipe incorporates Italian or pizza flavors, but also try my Cottage Cheese Queso Dip and Cottage Cheese Ranch Dip.
What can I mix with cottage cheese to make it taste better?
Cottage cheese has more of a neutral flavor, so you can add almost any flavors with it to get the protein benefits of cottage cheese. It takes on sweet and even savory flavors, like this one well. If you have a container of cottage cheese, but don't LOVE cottage cheese or the texture of cottage cheese, this is the perfect recipe to make with it to make it taste better. It doesn't taste like cottage cheese at all and you blend the cottage cheese smooth so you don't get the lumpy texture.
