Happy Monday!
How was your weekend? Mine was a nice combination of relaxing, enjoying fall mountains and embracing all things puppy!
Friday night started off with date night! Woop!
The Hubs and I went to the Red Stag Grill, which is in Biltmore Village in Asheville's Grand Bohemian Hotel. I had been in the hotel for different events and even stayed there, but had not actually eaten a regular dinner at their restaurant. So it felt like we were going somewhere new, which is always fun.
Don't they have the cutest fall decor?
I had a Moscow Mule, which is my current favorite drink.
For dinner I ordered the scallops and they were super tasty.
Dessert was a Campfire Pot de Creme! It tasted a little more like a mousse, but was still really good. It was SO dark in the restaurant, so these were the best photos I could get.
We had such a nice Friday night! We are so blessed to have our date nights.
Saturday started off early with some pumpkin coffee and puppy preschool.
You guys... Makena Rose is a little social butterfly. She was more interested in playing with the other dogs than doing anything else, including treats or me!
We've got our hands full.
I'm supposed to have her sit on this mat during class, but it took me the entire hour to make that happen! haha!
Good thing she's cute!
We came home and she slept and slept!!! Puppy preschool is exhausting.
While Makena was sleeping, I went into town and got a few things from the store including a Halloween costume for the little princess! I'm kind of stoked about it.
The Hubs has a big tax deadline on Monday, so he worked most of the day but came home in time for a walk.
I just can't handle the cuteness!!!
She's still learning the whole process of walking on a leash...
It's remarkable how much you take for granted with an older dog that you have to teach a puppy.
We ended up running into some neighbors with kids, so we let her run and play for awhile. She wore herself out, so this happened...
We can only hope she doesn't expect to be carried around the block when she's 50+ pounds. 🙂
And of course all good adventures end with a nap.
The day ended watching football and catching up on the DVR.
Sunday morning started off a bit slower with pumpkin pancakes courtesy of the hubs.
After breakfast I worked on blog comments and eventually made my way to the park to run. The trees are gorgeous right now in Asheville. I'm hoping to drive up the parkway this week to see more.
Late in the afternoon the Hubs got a brief break from work. We decided to pop down to Hendersonville for Oktoberfest at a local winery, Saint Paul Vineyards.
It was such a pretty afternoon and I was so happy to be outside.
There was a German themed polka band, which was pretty fun. It totally fit the theme and was perfectly festive.
The highlight was THIS goat cheese though. Cran-nut Zest... and it was amazing.
On the way home we stopped at a local apple orchard to pick up some goodies.
So gorgeous!!!
There's nothing like mountain fresh apples!
As I finished typing this I realized I didn't get any photos of Rhett this weekend! He says hi too and got lots of love this weekend as well. 🙂 Even with the puppy, he will always be my main man.
What a great weekend. I hope y'alls weekend was just as nice.
Thanks for stopping by today! Come back tomorrow for my Pumpkin Pie Smoothie.
I'm linking up with Marvelous Monday.
Your turn!

Oh goodness... I seriously cannot get over how cute your pup is! I loved hearing all about your weekend, it sounds like you and your husband had a great one =) Your dessert looks so good!
Puppy preschool is so cute - I can't believe she passed up treats haha 😉
"including a Halloween costume for the little princess!" We need pictures!!
JulieWunder says
I know! She cares more about playing with other dogs than treats! Social butterfly!
Andrea says
Awww...the puppy is soooo adorable! I got some good apples too this weekend and did an Oktoberfest but they didn't have a polka band. That would have been awesome!
JulieWunder says
It was quite festive 😉 We got a good laugh over it!! haha
Mary Beth Jackson says
Great weekend ! The puppy is adorable and is making me want one! I am sure by the end of preschool she will be at the top of her class! Keep planning those date nights- they are the best!
JulieWunder says
Haha! She was almost class clown yesterday! She's pretty funny.
Kristy from Southern In Law says
It looks like you had such a fun weekend!
I had to giggle at Makena being too tired to walk any further as our pups used to do the same thing. Trixie actually did it again a few weeks ago as my sister had been playing ball with her in the park and then tried to walk her home and she ended up carrying Trixie in her backpack because she was too tired to walk back home 😛 Luckily Trixie only weighs 15 lbs 😛
JulieWunder says
Haha! My dachshund growing up did that her whole life. Poor Makena is going to get too big soon enough though! haha!
Blane Sherer says
Looks like you had a great weekend.
Great pictures. Thanks for sharing.
Puppies are certainly cute.( smile )
JulieWunder says
They are! Thanks so much, Blane!

Sounds like a great weekend. Pumpkin pancakes sound delicious! Wineries are always so fun! Your pup is just too darn cute. How can you get mad at the face even when she doesn't listen?
JulieWunder says
Oh I know! I think she has reverted in the little training we've given her!
Susie @ SuzLyfe says
I want to dive into your weekend! I love every part of it. From date night to puppy daycare (YES TO WEARING THEM OUT) to apple picking. Excuse me while I steal your weekend.
JulieWunder says
Haha! Anytime! I want to steal your unicorn outfit! I think I'd be too tall for it though 🙁
Morgan @ Morgan Manages Mommyhood says
Oh man. when Cooper was a puppy he REFUSED to walk AWAY from our then apartment. We would have to hold him and walk him down the road, and then he would RUN back in the direction of our apartment, ha!
JulieWunder says
Oh no!! Come to think of it... the hardest part of the walk is getting started away from the house. There is sooo much to teach them!
Tiffany Dutson says
Looks like you had a great weekend!! Mine was fun as well, had a wonderful trip to Utah:)
JulieWunder says
Yay! Glad you had a good time! Thanks for stopping by!
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
Makena Rose is so cute! Cocoa would have failed puppy preschool miserably. She's so bad! Right now, she's sitting next to me, pawing me to pay attention to her. As if we ignore her, ever...
Curious...do people recognize you from your TV gig?
JulieWunder says
Yes... I'm afraid I didn't remember how challenging a puppy is too! WOW!! that's why we are at puppy preschool... to brush up on my training. Did I tell you I'm going to train her to run with me when she gets bigger? STOKED!
Yes, people recognize me from TV. It's been so long since I left, but I had a really big, highly public role for so long that I still get looks/get stopped. I consider it a blessing that people still care. 🙂 It's always felt strange for me though!
Emily says
Your puppy!!! I can't even. She's so so adorable; it looks like you got in a lot of training and time with her. 🙂 And the picture of your husband carrying her. That is just precious. 🙂
JulieWunder says
I know. He is smitten! 🙂

We had a great weekend...my wife took my oldest son to Charleston for the weekend, so me and the little two were home all weekend, after their games went to get some movies for the weekend and get some stuff for lunch....did a couple of errands, then went to Gravatopia, they were sold out for the day so they went to Monkey Joes, Yogurt Mountain, came home watched Finding Nemo (they had NEVER seen it), Sunday was church, then we went and hiked Mt. Pisgah, they didn't get tired or need to be carried...soooo proud of them....then went to Brixxx for dinner (Caleb was soooooooo excited he could have vegan cheese on his pizza) then we went home and the other two were home...BTW the color at Pisgah was fantastic yesterday....
JulieWunder says
Never seen Finding Nemo? Glad you took care of that! I need to make it up the parkway this week!

What a coincidence the Hubby & I ate at the Red Stag last Monday for our Anniversary, we so enjoyed the food & ambiance there, we will definitely go back, maybe have a short staycation.
That Makena is so precious! Life & times of puppyhood! Enjoy the puppy breath for me too!
Love God's canvas of fall colors, thanks for sharing!
My Hubbys graduating class had a tailgate get together and watched the ballgame on Friday, Saturday for us was Farmers Market shopping, I cooked taco soup & homemade cornbread, Sunday was just a lazy day enjoying the deck !
Paula?
JulieWunder says
No way!! It was such a nice meal. Love how cozy it is there.
So glad you had a nice weekend too. Sounds like you hit all the high points.
