Hi everyone!
How is it the middle of December already? I thought staying at home would make the holidays feel a little slower paced, but that's certainly not the case. I feel like the world is spinning out of control around us and we just keep going through the process of keeping two funny and adorable toddlers alive every day.
With the cases surging we've been hanging out at home even more. If you need us we'll most likely be cuddling or playing with Makena.
Or playing with the fun new remote control cars our friends Dan and Sommer go for the boys. They are totally obsessed!
I'm just trying to do my best to stay positive and keep my family safe and healthy. Some days I do better than others but this is just a crazy world we are living in right now.
Here's what else has been going on in our world.
Currently I’m…
Reading…
I have the new Nicholas Sparks book, The Return on my nightstand ready to dig in. I've read Nicholas Sparks' books since the beginning and while they aren't quite as good as they used to be, I can't seem to miss an opportunity to read a new one. I'm hoping this one is entertaining!
Listening…
Have you heard this yet? Stop what you are doing and just listen... it's gorgeous. I've been having trouble getting in the holiday spirit and music like this is helping.
Watching…
We've finished The Queens Gambit and LOVED it. It was smart, witty and so different.
Right now we are watching the second season of Virgin River. I have a bunch of saved Hallmark Christmas movies I want to watch but the Hub's has been vetoing them each night. 🙂
We've also started re-watching our favorite Christmas movies including Elf.
Wearing…
I've been so cold! The twins and I have all been walking around cuddled up in blankets. I think it's going to be a long cold winter.
Eating…
I made a big batch of my Vegetarian Taco Soup and we all loved it- even the twins. It's such an easy recipe that uses a lot of canned goods if you are looking to mix up your dinner routine.
Drinking…
The Hubs has continued his fun cocktail game with these homemade Margaritas made with Mezcal instead of tequila.
Indulging…
Our 9th wedding anniversary was this past weekend! We were able to have a few kid-free hours and took a walk around the Biltmore hiking trails. It was SO cold but nice to have some alone time.
We also got takeout from the Lobster Trap and it was a total indulgence. DELICIOUS!
Celebrating...
There's not a lot going on around here, so we celebrate small victories like finding a very socially distant spot at the lake to get outside and feed the ducks.
The boys love to do this and I love the change of scenery.
We even caught the start of a really pretty sunset the other day. This photo made me pause and remind me that life really is about the simple things.
Anticipating…
We still have our trip booked to Sanibel Florida in January and I'm hoping somehow we can go!
This photo is from our trip at the same time last year. Can you believe how much the boys have grown and changed??
Praying…
I'm sending some extra prayers to my family. We had to have a virtual funeral for my Grandmother and it was so sad that we couldn't all be together. Our plan is to have a celebration of life when it's safe to do so, but it was still hard not to be able to honor my beloved Grandmother in the way she deserved now.
I'm also sending good vibes and prayers to you guys reading this too. I know EVERYONE is going through some sort of struggle right now and I just want you to know you are in my thoughts too.
I’ve been doing a monthly Currently… post since August 2015. Catch up HERE! Thank you so much for reading today and for your comments.

So sorry about your grandmother and that you couldn't all grieve together as a family, things like that are truly the worst part of this pandemic.

So sorry about your grandmother. Hard to believe what our world is gojng thru. We have not seen our granddaughters in 3 years and as of right now we are planning to drive to Atlanta to be with them at Christmas....we know its risky but will self isolate for two weeks and be tested before we go. They will do the same and we will wear masks even in their home....no hugging and kissing. We pray for Gods Grace.

I have read all of Nicholas Sparks books too. I just saw the new one yesterday. I hope it is good. I’m sorry about your grandmother.
Hope you all have a good weekend!
