Hello from home! I can't believe we've reached another Currently... post and this whole Coronavirus crisis seems WORSE and not better. It's a scary strange world we are living in and I'm doing my best to stay positive. We were supposed to go visit my Dad in Orlando this weekend but decided to postpone with everything going on down there. Some days are better than others and remember I like to share the highlights here.
The boys are helping and I keep saying I'm grateful they don't know what is going on and that's is now more true than ever. I'm also grateful they aren't old enough to have to make a decision about them going to school in the fall. I'm thinking about all of you dealing with that challenge right now.
These smiles basically make my universe. 😉
Aren't they cute?! 🙂
So without further fanfare, let's dive into July's Currently... post!
Currently I’m…
Reading…
I adore Chanel Cleeton's Next Year in Havana and When We Left Cuba so I was super excited to snag The Last Train to Key West in Paperback, which is her latest novel. This one is about three women's lives who were changed after the historical 1935 Labor Day Hurricane that hit Key West.
The first two books were a completely riveting tale of a family who survived and moved from Cuba to Miami after the Cuban Revolution. They were some of the most compelling novels I've read in a long time if you are looking for a historical fiction summer read.
Listening…
So the boys love saying "bye!" and somehow that got in my head the 90's N'Sync song "Bye Bye Bye." I decided to play it for them and now they like to dance to it and know when the "bye" part comes up and they say it. It's pretty darn cute.
It's a good thing I actually liked 90's boy band music because this one has been on repeat at my house.
Also what happened to cool music videos like this? They just don't make them anymore!
Watching…
We've watched some better shows this month. The Hub's and I watched the last season of Queen of the South which was pretty entertaining. We also watched Hamilton on Disney+ and I'm totally obsessed. I might try to find time to watch it again soon.
The Hub's stopped watching Downton Abbey with me a few month ago which meant I didn't have a lot of time to finish it (I'd watch it when I'd run on the treadmill) but I finally caught up to the last season. I really enjoyed it and going to miss it! We also watched the movie too which I thought was great.
With the Hub's finishing up with the tax extension deadline I also had a little more time to watch tv by myself and I picked The Babysitter's Club which is a new release on Netflix. I was a mega fan of the books when I was a kid so I couldn't resist. It was a quick watch and was very nostalgic if you had read the books.
Wearing…
Gym clothes and hats are on repeat over here. It's messy and sweaty taking care of the boys. I still miss my pretty clothes and getting dressed to leave the house so much!
I've been trying to put on a dress at least once a week when we order a nice dinner but I keep forgetting to take a photo. It's just not the same though.
Eating…
All the summer fruit! We've been eating watermelon and peaches on repeat.
Drinking…
I've been missing fun cocktails out so the Hub's and I have been attempting to up our cocktail game at home. This is a blueberry spritz.
The Hub's also made a smoke box to make smoked Old Fashioned drinks which is pretty cool.
Indulging...
We ordered some seafood from Maine this past weekend and really enjoyed it. I've missed getting oysters out and these turned out so tasty. It was a total indulgence but SO worth it.
Celebrating...
I've been trying to get ahead with my blog recipes and shot 10 new ones over the past two weeks! There are lots of yummy recipes to come. They will publish over the next few months.
Anticipating…
We have another trip to Hilton Head planned in August and I'm hoping nothing happens where we can't go. This was the only trip for the Spring/Summer that I planned back in January that we will hopefully be able to actually take.
Our plan is find a beach spot with LOTS and LOTS of space even if we have to walk a ways to get there and to order food in. I need some serious beach time and am determined to do it safely!
Praying…
I pray daily that my family can keep from getting Coronavirus! I'm so worried about my Dad and my in-laws and hoping they can stay healthy too.
I’ve been doing a monthly Currently… post since August 2015. Catch up HERE! Thank you so much for reading today and for your comments.
