Happy Fashion Friday!
We are slowly transitioning to fall weather in the mountains. Temperatures have been cool in the mornings, and warm in the afternoons. It's such a pretty time of year.
Sometimes I find it challenging to get the perfect look in early fall. I'm not ready for boots yet, and frankly it is way too warm for that still, but I definitely want to give a more fallish vibe with my outfits.
One of my favorite ways to embrace the new season is dressing up a neutral colored summer dress for fall.
This navy dress is one of my absolute favorites and works well from spring to fall. I add a light sweater and light scarf to warm it up. I also switch out to close toe flats this time of year.
If it gets too warm in the afternoon, you can easily take off the accessories, and you still have a polished look.
It's an easy way to get more wear out of some of your summer wardrobe and look perfectly styled for this transitional time.

Still to warm for the boots here but I do love a scarf! I just bought a new one on my girl's weekend that I picked up at the Loft and threw it in my bag for Italy. Good thing, temps varied from 55-80 degrees so it was perfect!
JulieWunder says
Are you back???? Did you love it? When I went the weather started in the 40's in Venice by the time we got to Rome is was 85+!
Jen says
I haven't pulled out the boots yet, but I'm sure I will soon! I'm loving this fall weather, especially for running!
JulieWunder says
It's perfect for running! I ended up pulling out my rain boots this weekend! After such a dry summer, the rain is nice for a change!
Sue @ This Mama Runs for Cupcakes says
I have not dug the boots out...yet, but they are coming! Love a good scarf, a great way to change up an outfit!
JulieWunder says
Thanks Sue! It ended up raining here this weekend, so I pulled out my rain boots!
Tara says
I'm not a fan of cold weather, but I love scarves...and have way too many...so it's the only reason I embrace cold weather! Cute outfit!
JulieWunder says
I could not agree more! I'd be happy to live in spring/summer clothes year round!
Heather @Fit n Cookies says
Super cute! I've only worn a scarf once this year so far. I have not worn any boots. We've had mornings in the 50s, but it's been in the mid 70s-80s in the afternoon so still too hot! Have a wonderful weekend!
JulieWunder says
You'll be living in them soon enough!
Heather@hungryforbalance says
Oh you and your stylish self! I do love to pair scarves with things though. It just pulls an outfit together, you know?
JulieWunder says
I could not agree more! Thank you 🙂
Lindsey says
It is still pretty warm in the Richmond area. I have been wanting to wear boots and sweaters but by noon I'm always roasting! haha I love your outfit! Thanks for linking up at Favorite Fashion Friday!
JulieWunder says
Totally! It's been raining here all day so the rain boots might come out for dinner tonight!
lacey@fairytalesandfitness says
Cute dress! I have not wore boots yet this yr. There will be plenty of time for that soon enough.
JulieWunder says
I agree! I try not to bust them out too early... but after the solid 24 hours of rain we've seen today I think I'm pulling out my rain boots for dinner 🙂
Nicole @ Fitful Focus says
Wee! I'm so ready for scarves :). Love this whole look, as always.
JulieWunder says
Thanks Nicole! Have a great weekend!
Jamie says
It's perfectly cool in the evenings, but not cool enough during the day for boots. I'm really ready for it though. I've been wearing a lot of sweaters recently.. chunky sweaters make it feel like fall in my mind! Hope you have a fabulous weekend!
JulieWunder says
Me too! I'm feeling the need to sweater shop!
Melissa @ Freeing Imperfections says

Deborah @ Confessions of a Mother Runner says
I always find it challenging this time of year. Yes too warm for boots and I never feel like I am wearing the right shoes. I don't wear heels to much anymore with all my foot issues. I am still wearing my Birkenstocks. 🙂
JulieWunder says
I def don't wear heels as much anymore and if I do, I'll keep flats in the car 🙂
Susie @ SuzLyfe says
Love you in those colors! I agree--breaking out the scarf means it is definitely fall time! I love a good pashmina!
JulieWunder says
Me too! They are so useful!
Danielle @ Little Mama Big Life says
No boots for me yet either, it's been too warm. Love that dress and scarf!
JulieWunder says
Thank you Danielle!
Blane Sherer says
Beautiful fall look Julie.
It is important to be able to do layers this time of year with such
significant temperature change at different times of the day.
JulieWunder says
Thanks Blane! Have a great weekend!
