Happy Fashion Friday!
You've probably figured out by now that I have a deep love of all things flowery and pretty in the summer (all the time, really.) So it's no surprise I've found my way to the sunflower paths at Biltmore several times this summer already.
I don't think I will ever grow tired of this view. The mountains are such a stunning backdrop.
The other day the Hubs and I grabbed dinner nearby and he snapped these photos. I wasn't sure how they'd turn out since we basically had to shoot into the sun to get the sunflowers facing the right way, but it worked. The effect is pretty cool actually.
So this dress. I adore it. My sister-in-law Danielle actually sent it down to me because she wasn't wearing it anymore.
I instantly took it in as my new favorite. You've also seen me wearing it in Austin earlier this summer.
I adore the 70's inspired neckline with an updated midi-length skirt. I swear my Mom had an almost identical green one stashed in the back of the closet growing up.
The dress is easy to wear and it instantly puts me in a good mood.
Fashion should do that for you. If you don't like the way you feel in it, don't wear it! I love fashion trends as much as the next girl, but you should always be true to yourself and your own personal style. If you have pieces you LOVE, you can keep wearing them for years. That is what I do.
This sunflower paradise marks the last Fashion Friday of summer. Starting next week I'm going to share some of my favorite fall finds, including some adorable and inexpensive new ways to transition your wardrobe in to fall.
But in the mean time linger, pause and just enjoy these last few weeks. If you can't find me, I'll be out frolicking in this meadow. 🙂 Kidding.... kind of.
Don't sunflowers and butterflys make the best accessories?
Happy shopping!

IMHO, you can never go wrong with a red dress! And that one has such a pretty feminine 70s vibe. Of course the amazing field of sunflowers really makes that beautiful shade of red pop 🙂
Jess says
Wow! I know why red is my favorite color! You look amazing, and this sunflower field, is this near the Biltmore? Hubby and I want to eventually move out there. You can beat the mountains, and what a beautiful dress from a friend! 🙂

I really agree that if fashion doesn't fit you and suit you really well; then you don't have to wear it. I love that you were able to use this hand me down, because it looks BEAUTIFUL on you. You look so feminine and beautiful in the middle of sunflowers.
JulieWunder says
Thank you Emily! You are so wonderful!

Well I'd like to move on from summer but it's so hot that I can't seem to! Love the gathering on the dress. Looking fab as usual!

Love sunflowers, every year the boys plant them in the garden as hot as it is, still in summer, won't mentally move to fall until the kids hit the game field for soccer
JulieWunder says
Summer all the way 🙂

I agree. I love getting gently used clothes. I am a very small framed gal and find it difficult to find clothes that fit me properly and don't make me look like a teenager! I'm 55 years old and have had to shop in the junior section my entire adult life! I'm too tall for the petite section. So consequently, my girlfriends are all the time picking things up for me that they find in thrift stores or sales that they think will fit me and offer the mature look that I like. It's great! They're great! Some of my most favorite pieces are among those that were gifted to me via a girlfriend?. Love the dress Julie. You look beautiful as always....
JulieWunder says
Thank you! It can be challenging to find the right clothes. Yay for good friends!

AWw I love this dress! Isn't it fun to get "hand me downs" that you just love?! I have friends who moved and got rid of a lot of their clothes, which they gave to me. I love it!
JulieWunder says
I know! I got lucky with this one.
