Happy Fashion Friday!
This week has been really nice and peaceful. Earlier in the week the weather was so pretty and I got to run and walk outside and I even went to a studio yoga class. Plus Makena's puppy training is finally clicking (although she's still crazy and I have a lot of work to do!) For the first time in awhile life has felt somewhat normal and calm. After a lot of drama lately, it's been a wonderful change of pace.
This weekend I get to see my Goddaughter Isabella and celebrate Evelyn's first Birthday! Sadly even though I did a bunch of Super Bowl party posts, I'm not actually throwing one this year. The Hubs work starts to get busy around this time, and he starts working weekends again, so we lay low until after tax season is over. However, I am planning on watching the game with him and making a few yummy recipes for two!

Soooooo let's talk fashion! I got a crazy nice and useful coat for Christmas from the Hubs. I had been wanting a really nice brown leather coat for awhile and I really got spoiled with this one!
It's a Cole Haan and is made so well. I know it will be something I wear for years and years. I thought about getting a black one in more of a moto style. They are super popular right now, but at the end of the day that's not really me. I am the pure opposite of edgy!
One of the biggest fashion rules that ALWAYS stands true is to stay true to yourself and the kind of clothes YOU like and look best on you. That way you will always feel good and love what you are wearing. Make trends work for you!
So instead of going with the zipper covered black jacket (which I love on other people,) I went with a streamlined buttery brown one. Classic lines always win when I'm out shopping.
To keep the look fresh I paired it with my black skinny pants and striped shirt from white house black market. I also added my new ankle boots I featured a few weeks ago.
I've got a feeling this coat will be going with EVERYTHING as we approach spring. It can even make some summer dresses work into spring.
AND I match my puppy. Makena is always outside when the Hubs and I are taking these and so many of my outtakes have her running around in the back. Her sweet little face is just so mushy and kissable-- especially when she's learning to listen to it!
Now I know this coat is a little pricy, but I believe in investing in quality pieces on occasion and this is one I think it worth it. The Hubs got a really good deal on it at Dillards, but I linked to it at Macy's because they always have coupons and specials to help bring the price down.
Happy shopping and happy weekend! As always, I'd love to hear what you've got going on this weekend in the comments.

You've become my fashion inspiration! I need some advice--I scored a really cute black and white plaid flannel shirt dress from Target on the clearance for $8! No joke. Yesterday I wore it to work with black tights and my knee high timberland black boots. There is a waist tie, same fabric as the dress. What would be a good alternative for the waist?
JulieWunder says
Hi Wendy! Thank you!! What about a woven brown belt? I think you are right that it would need something to break it up. Something like this one---> https://www.runninginaskirt.com/fashion-friday-yellow-sweater-for-spring/
You could also experiment with a thin black belt if you wanted to keep with the black!
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
Thank you! I'm going to try the brown belt!!
Emily says
You style striped shirts so well; and that jacket is delightful. It's so pretty and fancy.
JulieWunder says
Thank you Emily! I guess I'm drawn to them!!

What a beautiful leather coat! I love the style of it and you look great wearing it! I can tell Makena is growing...such a sweet puppy. I know you are enjoying having her as part of your family. Like you, we will be a "party of two" watching the Super Bowl this weekend. Have fun and enjoy!
JulieWunder says
Thanks Debbie! She's sweet and crazy!! haha! Hope you guys have a fun time this weekend.

JulieWunder says
Thank Heather I love mine so much.

Perfect outfit in every way! I love it and love that you and the puppy match. 🙂 My big problem these days is finding something that works with the longer tunic tops that I wear. They are always sticking out under the hem of my coat. I am sure I am a fashion faux pas. 🙂
JulieWunder says
That is hard, but I don't think it's always bad. It just depends. I've been wanting a LONG down puffer for a few years because I dislike the cold so much.
Annmarie says
I really want your whole outfit! SUPER CUTE!
JulieWunder says
Thanks Annmarie!
Susie @ Suzlyfe says
