Try my homemade Creamy Avocado Lime Dressing recipe that's healthy, clean eating, and totally delicious. This healthy salad dressing takes only 5 minutes to make and is perfect as a dip or for drizzling over your favorite salad greens.
Avocado Lime Dressing
There is something about avocado and lime that is just so dreamy together and this Avocado Lime Dressing is no different.
Perhaps my love of the avocado and lime combination goes back to my long-standing love of all things guacamole based? I honestly could and have to go through an entire recipe of guacamole on my own. It's a borderline obsession. Please tell me I'm not the only one!?
In my effort to get that guacamole flavor without eating a whole bag of chips, I turned that classic guac flavor into a salad dressing! My Creamy Avocado Lime Dressing is simply inspired by this dream team combination of flavors from guacamole and takes only 5 minutes to make.
The result is an irresistible healthy salad dressing you'll want to make over and over again.
Why You'll Love this Creamy Avocado Lime Dressing...
This Avocado Lime Dressing is easy to love. The base is of course avocado, cilantro, and lime. To make my recipe creamy I added my favorite secret ingredient... greek yogurt. The greek yogurt makes it creamy and adds a little protein to your dressing. And as a mainly vegetarian, I am always looking for new ways to add protein to my diet.
Don't you just want to make a taco salad and eat this up!?? How about trying my Vegetarian Taco Salad...
Just sayyyyiinnn...
This is also quite lovely on a big batch of curly kale! Massage it into the greens and allow to sit for a few hours before serving.
Then come back and tell me how much you love it?! K?
Ingredients:
Here's what you'll need to make the dressing. Many of these ingredients you probably already have around your pantry and fridge.
- Avocado: You'll need a soft and ripe one for this recipe.
- Lime: Freshly squeezed lime works best for my Avocado Lime Dressing.
- Cilantro: I love fresh cilantro in this recipe. It makes the salad dressing taste like guacamole. If you don't like cilantro, feel free to just leave it out without a substitute.
- Garlic: Minced garlic adds lots of flavor punch to this recipe.
- Olive Oil: A touch of olive oil makes this recipe extra rich.
- Greek Yogurt: Creamy greek yogurt makes this recipe even more delicious.
- Water: You will need just enough water to get the salad dressing to the right consistancy.
- Salt and Pepper
How to Make Creamy Avocado Lime Dressing:
I use my favorite food processor to make this salad dressing.
- Take the skin off the avocado and remove the pit.
- Put the avocado, lime, cilantro, garlic, olive oil, and greek yogurt in your food processer or blender. Start chopping.
- Add a tablespoon of water at a time until you get your desired consistency.
- Salt and pepper to taste.
Tips & Variations
- If you don't cilantro, leave it out.
- You can make this dressing a bit thicker and serve it as a dip. Just add less water. Keep it a little more liquidy for the salad dressing.
- You can substitute sour cream for Greek yogurt although it would not be as healthy.
- If you are making an oil-free dressing you can leave out the olive oil. Just add more water.
Storing Healthy Salad Dressings
Sadly, this Creamy Avocado Lime Dressing doesn't keep as well in the fridge because the avocado can turn colors. But even if the color turns a bit, it still tastes good. You can store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days.
Honestly, it's so scrumptious, you'll want to polish off the whole batch in one sitting.
What to Serve with this Avocado Lime Dressing:
- Vegetarian Taco Salad
- Massaged Kale
- Healthy Salmon Salad
- Black Bean Tacos <--- It's great as a taco topping!
- Vegetarian Taco Stuffed Bell Peppers
I used to think I had to buy a bottle of dressing to make a salad, but once I figured out how much more delicious and healthy it was to make my own... I've been on a kick. This Creamy Avocado Lime Dressing is no exception... healthy, homemade, and absolutely addictive.
Enjoy!

This is sooo good! I didn't even have the cilantro, and still it was amazing. I plan on using it for salad dressing, but also as a sauce for chicken and beef.

I LOVE this dressing! So yummy and the perfect topping for a burrito bowl, tacos, fish, and salad! Also amazing as a dip for chips or fresh veggies. It kind of reminds me of the avocado lime dressing at Chik-fil-a but so much fresher (and healthier). Thanks so much!!

Oooh yes please! Especially over your taco salad =)
I'm always so lazy with dressings. Just a touch of olive oil and a sprits of fresh lemon juice, I think this would really jazz a salad up though. And like you, help me not to eat an entire bag of corn chips haha.
JulieWunder says
haha... I'm with you on that I could devour a bag of chips and jar of salsa!
