I've gotten away from buying bottled salad dressing in the past few years and started making healthy salad dressing at home. Not saying I never do, but I've grown to enjoy mixing up my own and I like being able to control the ingredients in it. It's generally a lot healthier and a lot better for you. You can easily make a salad dressing with no sugar and fewer calories. Plus you avoid some of the strange fillers found in bottled dressings. In fact, over the years I've made 15+ Healthy Salad Dressings for this recipe collection and it all started with this one!

Can't you just imagine this on that plump baby spinach or fresh crunchy romaine? It's perfect with anything with Italian, Greek, or Mediterranean flavors.

- The best part about it this healthy dressing is clean eating AND a sugar free salad dressing.
- With simple recipes like this, it's worth it to buy nice ingredients. Some of my favorites are this olive oil, this red wine vinegar, and these spices. The high-quality ingredients make a big difference in this homemade Dressing.
- It tastes SO good and makes your boring salad much more zesty and bright.
- You can customize the dressing to match your taste.
Is Greek Salad Dressing Good for You?
Yes! Greek Salad Dressing is good for you because the base is olive oil, which used in moderation can be heart healthy. It's unsaturated fat that can help lower cholesterol. My salad dressing is healthier because it uses a bit less oil and more vinegar. It also doesn't contain preservatives that you might find in a packaged salad dressing.
Ingredients:
Here's an overview of what you'll need to make this Healthy Greek Salad Dressing recipe, but keep scrolling for the full recipe amounts.
- High Quality Olive Oil: I like to use a nice extra virgin olive oil for the base of my dressings. I choose a higher quality olive oil for salad dressings than I would use for roasting vegetables.
- High Quality Vinegar: I used a nice red wine vinegar for my dressing but white wine vinegar would also work.
- Fresh Garlic: I used fresh minced garlic for the most potent flavors. You can also substitute a smaller amount of garlic powder.
- Spices: An Italian or Greek-inspired blend of spices is perfect for this recipe. I went with garlic, oregano, thyme, and rosemary.
- Lemon: A fresh squeeze of lemon juice gives this dressing a bright and fresh flavor.
I made my version a little more heavy-handed on the vinegar to cut back on the oil. I find this ratio tastes amazing and makes this dressing healthier and more of a low fat greek dressing. You will also notice there is no sugar in my dressing making it a great sugar free salad dressing recipe. The lemon and spices work together perfectly too.

FAQ
How do I store the dressing?
You can make a batch over the weekend and use it all week. I like to store mine in a mason jar so I can easily shake it up because it will split after sitting for a few minutes, just like at your favorite Greek restaurant.
It has worked great in this fun salad dressing shaker!
Freezing
I don't recommend freezing the healthy Greek Salad dressing and it is best served fresh.
What's the healthiest dressing to put on your salad?
Any homemade dressing, like this one, will be the healthiest dressing to put on your salad. Since this dressing uses a bit less oil, it overall has fewer calories too. Generally, an oil-based dressing like this one will be better for you than a mayonnaise-based dressing.

Serve this Healthy Greek Salad Dressing as a drizzle on classic Greek salad with romaine lettuce, tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, red onion, and feta cheese.

Oh does this ever look good! I haven't bought dressing in several years, but I am not very creative with my dressings. Sometimes I just spritz a bit of lemon juice. This sounds so flavourful, I love all of the spices. And I definitely like more vinegar than oil! Yum.
JulieWunder says
Yes! Never underestimate the power of a good lemon!

Hi Linda! I found some good ones for cheap at Micheals or Big Lots! I hope you enjoy this as much as I do... and remember I made mine pretty vinegar heavy-- so If you don't love vinegar you can adjust that a little.
