Hummingbird Drink Smoothie
This Hummingbird Drink Smoothie is designed to take you to the tropics. During several of my trips to the Caribbean, including Jamaica, I've been offered delightful run-filled concoctions called a Hummingbird. The traditional Jamaican drink has fresh strawberries, bananas, cream, rum cream, and gold rum. It's delightful and I've included the traditional Hummingbird rum drink recipe below as a bonus.
I’ve been dreaming about it ever since and decided to take the rum out and turn it into a delicious low-fat smoothie that you can enjoy any time of day. I call it the Hummingbird smoothie. This drink brings out all the flavors of the rum frozen cocktail including banana, strawberries, and Greek yogurt instead of cream.
Why You'll Love this Hummingbird Drink Smoothie recipe...

Ingredients:
Here's an overview of what you'll need to make this Hummingbird Drink Smoothie, but keep scrolling for the full recipe amounts.
- Frozen Banana: I like to use frozen bananas to make my smoothies including this Hummingbird Drink. You can either buy frozen banana chunks or take your very ripe bananas and peel and freeze them.
- Frozen Strawberries: Frozen strawberries also give this smoothie a nice consistency. This is the other flavor you taste in the hummingbird cocktail.
- Coconut Milk: To keep with the tropical theme, I used coconut milk, but you can use any dairy or non-dairy milk you prefer.
- Greek Yogurt: The cocktail has a creaminess to it, which I use Greek yogurt to mimic it for this healthy smoothie.
Instructions:

- Mix Up the Fruit: Pineapple, mango or blueberries would also taste great in this.
- Add Protein: Add a scoop of your favorite protein powder to make it a protein Hummingbird Drink.
- Use Fresh Fruit: You can use fresh fruit instead of frozen fruit, but you will need to add at least a cup of ice to get the frozen smoothie consistency.

This looks really good! I bet the coconut is what makes it feel like vacation. Normally when I make a smoothie I go for strawberry and banana with Greek yogurt but the vanilla protein powder is a great alternative. I've never tried recreating a vacation eat, mostly because I don't think I'll ever live up to the original!

Very true! It is never as good at home!
