Black and White
The hubs and I went to the Black and White Soirée this weekend to support the Asheville Arts Museum. It’s been a long time since we have gone out to an Asheville event together, so it was nice to support the community. Our town is well known for being a destination for artists.
oh… squinty eyes… not the best picture…
The invitation listed the dress code as black and white cocktail attire—I can’t believe I actually already had this dress in the closet. It has little white polka dots on it. It’s an oldie but a goodie from White House Black Market. I love the soft ruffles on the bottom. Girly but not too fussy.
I paired the dress with my wedding jewelry! I loved an excuse to wear it again. I am a big fan of not leaving jewelry in a drawer.
Feeling Busy
It finally feels like our life is finally returning to the chaos and hectic lifestyle that we consider normal. Is it strange that busy feels routine?
“Busy? What about me?”
Reina prefers I spend all my time with her. This is what happens when I try to do yoga with dogs in the room.
My how time flies though… it feels like summer is already slipping away. In fact another big summer holiday is almost here.
Getting ready for the 4th of July?
I’ve been trying to get ahead and plan some 4th of July ideas. I have to work, but I thought it would be nice to try some new grilling recipes. Here are some links to vegetarian grilling that I found….
Stuffed Red Peppers – Mother Nature Network
Grilled Eggplant and Tomatoes with Parmesan-Basil Crumbs – Food and Wine
Sweet and Spicy Barbecue Tofu – About.com
My husband and I both love mushrooms so these are in top running…
Tomato and Olive Stuffed Portobello Caps – Eating Well
Blue Cheese Portobello Burgers – Eating Well
We may do a big steak for my husband too (he loves his meat) but he is also a really good sport about trying all most of my new food ideas.
Lots to do!!!
It may be a little hectic around here, but for once busy feels good.

3 kids, normal is busy and will get busier in the fall with 2 playing soccer and one in Scouts. Plus our jobs and my Asheville marathon training. But it beats the alternative of sitting around the house being bored...as far as the 4th we will see probably that morning, wouldn't be surprised if we go up to the Mountains for a hike and have time together, I have the 4th and 5th off and am helping my dad and uncle at my grandma's house.

Hi Julie! I am so glad you are feeling/doing better since your surgery and illnesses these past months.
Is my {our} normal busy? No. I think my husband and I have a medium life. Not to be confused with a mediocre life!! LOL!! We spend the days working but at nighttime we like to enjoy each other's company sitting, relaxing, sharing our days. We are empty nesters so this is nice to be able to spend some time to ourselves.
Our 4th of July plans are very low key. We usually support our local Lion's Club by buying their barb-b-qued chicken dinners. Then my husband and I go to a secluded place to watch the local fireworks.
We are basic grillers. Nothing fancy. 🙂

Love portabella mushrooms and these recipes sound yummy.
My 4th of July will be to rest as much as possible. You are just so cute, I would love to meet in person 🙂
