After spending a lovely week in Destin, Florida with the Hub's family, I'm back in Asheville. We all stayed in a big house and had a wonderful time playing and reconnecting. All NINE of the grandkids were able to get together.
The trip didn't turn out exactly as planned because the boys gave the Hubs and me cold during the trip. They got it the Thursday before we left and got better (we tested them and they were negative,) but we were sick most of the week. We also didn't go out to restaurants or stores, like we thought we'd be able to do, because of the rising case numbers in Florida and the new uncertainty over the situation. Regardless though, we were able to make the most out of the trip and really enjoyed it.
I'm planning some Destin travel posts in the upcoming weeks, but I first wanted to share some of my favorite photos from the week. I took hundreds but here are the top 15.
I'll start with my favorite shot of the beach. This was my view most of the week.
The water in Destin and this area of the Florida panhandle is clear and the sand is powder white. It's a huge contrast to the SC beaches we are used to and it was so lovely.
The twins got to play with all their cousins but were especially enchanted with Keegan who is just two weeks older than them.
Their Grandparents, Bobby and Pap, played with them a lot too which was so heartwarming.
This photo isn't the best quality, but we spent a lot of time actually in the water because it was so nice. We had these fun rafts for the boys and they both loved to bounce around in the waves in them.
I also got to paddleboard, which was super fun.
Our house had a great pool and when we weren't at the beach we were at the pool.
The boys LOVED the pool and played in it for hours at a time. Here's a shot of a lot of them with some of the older cousins.
And I adored this smiling photo of the boys with Owen.
One of the highlights of the week was parasailing! The older boys wanted to go and I had never done it before so I tagged along. It was later in the week so I was feeling a bit better.
I went with my niece Kendall and we had a blast. It was such a cool experience. I've wanted to do it since I was a kid and am so glad I got to go with everyone.
The other thing we did out of the house took a little tour of some of the towns along 30A. This is Seaside which we found incredibly charming.
Here's the entire crew! Can you believe how big all the kids are getting?
I also got a photo of just the four of us in our matching Lilly! I got these outfits when I was pregnant with the boys so it felt pretty special to finally be able to wear them... even if it was just for a photo.
You should see the outtakes!
What a wonderful trip. I'm so lucky we all got to go and blessed we got to spend time together, especially with all the uncertainty creeping back into the world again. Destin is a beautiful place and I can't wait to share more of the details from our trip with you soon including a restaurant guide and a travel guide.
