Beaches Turks & Caicos Packing List
Look no further for the perfect Beaches Turks & Caicos Packing list. It can be a bit daunting to pack for a big international trip to the Turks and Caicos islands, especially traveling with children, but let me take the guesswork out of it for you and let you know exactly what you'll need for your trip. I've been to Beaches Turks & Caicos twice, and feel like I have down the perfect packing list of what you will need when traveling to his gorgeous Caribbean island on vacation. You can see our family photos from our trips here: Top 20 Moments Beaches Turks & Caicos 2023 & Top 20 Moments Beaches Turks & Caicos 2024.
From essentials like your passport to fun extras like float for the kids, this list has thought of everything you need to add to your bags.
6 Pro Tips for Turks and Caicos Packing:
- If traveling with a family you'll probably need some nice large, sturdy pieces of luggage. Consider using packing cubes to keep it all organized.
- Have at least one small carry-on luggage that you can pack enough to get through a day or two at the resort without your big bags. There's always a chance your luggage could get delayed, especially if you are transferring planes, and they might not be able to get it to you until the next day.
- Bring enough entertainment and snacks to get your kids through the airport on both ways. Set aside some snacks and food for the plane ride home too. The Turks & Caicos airport can be very crowded, old, and without a lot of food options. I brought lunch with us to the airport and I'm glad I did.
- Turks & Caicos is pretty reliably warm all year long. Check the weather before you go, but you will most likely, even in winter be packing for 80+ degrees.
- If it happens to be raining on the day you are traveling, pack in a waterproof bag or cover your bags with a waterproof cover. On our first trip, it was pouring rain when we left North Carolina and our bags were drenched by the time we got to Turks & Caicos since it's so tropical there our stuff probably dried out.
- Just remember to pack carefully but don't overpack because whatever you bring with you have to lug through the airports with your kids!
Beaches Turks & Caicos Packing List
Travel Essentials
- Passport - Since Turks and Caicos is another country, you'll need one for everyone in your family, including kids. Check and make sure your passports is not expiring within 6 months of you leaving the country, or you will need to renew it before you leave. You do not need a Visa for a U.S. citizen to visit Turks and Caicos.
- Drivers License
- Health Insurance Cards
- Travel Insurance Documents - Make sure you have access to your travel insurance either by printing it out or keeping it on your phone just in case.
- Pen - You will need it in your carry-on to fill out immigration documents on the plane. The plane does not provide them.
- Credit Card - You'll be asked to keep one on file at the resort, even though it is an all-inclusive.
- Cash - A small amount of cash can help buy any souvenirs from the street market, activities at the beach from vendors, or if you plan to do any sort of taxi off the resort. You can also use it to tip the people at the airport who help with your bags.
- Computer or iPad - It's useful to have at least one device to stay in touch with the world, check your flights when leaving, etc.
- Luggage Hand Scale - Useful for weighing your bags on the way home so you don't get charged extra. I like this one.
Clothes & Personal Items
- Nice Dinner Outfit for Each Night - The dress code for most restaurants is very loose. For the boys, we wore shorts and short-sleeve shirts and polo shirts each night. I wore sundresses. There are a handful of adult-only restaurants that require pants for men, but you can wear sandals with them and don't have to pack dress shoes.
- Swimsuits - Bring as many as you have because it takes forever for them to dry out in the tropical climate. They will not dry overnight. I'd recommend bringing a rashguard to block the sun for kids. Here's one for girls and one for boys.
- Swim Cover-Ups - For women, it's helpful to have a nice swimsuit cover-up that looks like a dress, so you can hop in and out of restaurants without changing. Try this one or this one.
- Swim Suit Wraps - I also like having a wrap to easily throw around my swimsuit, without having to put on the entire cover-up. This one is cute.
- Casual Clothes - You don't need a lot of extra outfits, but a few casual outfits and t-shirts to have on hand are nice. We mostly wore swimsuits to breakfast, but a few times we wore nicer shorts and dresses to the nicer breakfast restaurant and the Sesame Street Breakfast.
- Pajamas and Lounge Clothes - Whatever you like to use for pajamas, sleeping, and lounging. There are robes in the rooms.
- Light Jacket or Sweater - It has been very warm on our trips, but occasionally a sweater is nice at night or if you do something indoors.
- Baseball Hat - A good baseball hat that you don't mind getting wet is perfect for the beach or waterpark.
- Sun Hat - I love a nice, wide-brim sunhat for when I'm in the sun but not in the water. Here's a cute one. Use this clip to carry it with you on the plane.
- Comfortable Beach - Pool Flip Flops - The resort and large and there is a lot of walking, so you might want to upgrade your standard plastic flip-flops if you have any trouble with your feet. I swear by these!
- Nicer Dinner Shoes - You'll need a nicer pair of shoes to wear with your dinner outfits. Try to find something in a neutral tone that matches everything.
- Walking Shoes - If you have trouble with your feet, consider packing a pair of real walking shoes. We sometimes walked 6+ miles in a day. It's also nice to have these to wear at the airport.
- Personal Toiletries - They do have shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, and lotion in the rooms. You'll probably need shaving cream, a razor, deodorant, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and your brush or comb.
- Sunglasses
- Outfit for Family Photos - They offer a free family photo session at sunset, so if you'd like to do this, pack a coordinating outfit for your family! It's kind of a pain to do, but is worth it!
Toilets, Medicine & Extras
- Hand Wipes or Hand Sanitizer - You are around a lot of people, so this never hurts.
- Trash Bags - Bring anything that's still wet home in your suitcase. Stuff doesn't dry very quickly there.
- Ziplock Bags - Come in handy for packing up things when you are leaving, especially for wet things.
- Beach Bag
- Extra Tote Bag - Having an extra non-sandy tote bag can come in handy for taking stuff to dinner or activity.
- Sunscreen - Bring a lot of sun protection! The sun is intense at this latitude and you will go through it. If you will be snorkeling at the coral reef, consider bringing reef-safe sunscreen.
- Aloe Gel - Just in case you get burnt.
- Bug Repellent - Since it's a tropical island, there are bugs. We found that we got stung sitting out on the balcony at night.
- Hydrocortisone Cream - Helpful for any bug bites because it is a tropical island.
- First Aid Kit - Especially since having two accident-prone kids, I always travel with a first aid kit. I like this one. It's a great size for packing and has so much in it.
- Prescription Medicines
- Any Medicines - Pack any medicines you might need during the trip including ibuprofen or Tylenol for yourself and the kids. When traveling overseas with kids, I also like to have a bag of emergency medicine including cold medicine, stomach medicine, and Benadryl just in case. I'm sure you can get these things on the island, but it would be a pain to get them, and probably pretty expensive. Someone always seems to get sick in our family when we travel, so I just keep a bag of this kind of stuff in our travel bags. 🙂
Fun Extras for Kids & Adults
- Puddle Jumpers - If your kids aren't get at swimming yet, these are good to have for the ocean.
- The Best Floats for the Pool - These floats pack up small and are so fun to float around in. They don't look like much, but they work well and pack up small.
- Floats - We did these turtle floats one year and the flamingo floats another year. They do take up a good amount of space in the bags, so they are extras but if you have room it's a lot of fun. If you do bring larger floats, you might want to also bring an electric pump. 🙂
- Camera - If you are a photographer, you might want to consider bringing your camera rather than just using your phone. Also if you snorkel or dive, consider bringing your underwater camera.
- Waterproof Phone Case - This is handy to keep water or just sand out of your phone. I love this one.
- Sand Toys - These collapsable sand toys are perfect if you have the space.
- Sand Trucks - If your kids love trucks as much as I do, we don't travel to the beach without these. They do take up a little space but are light to pack.
- Kids Snacks - It's all-inclusive and there is so much food, BUT it's nice to have some of your kid's favorite snacks in the room for bedtime or before dinner. They don't have things like goldfish or granola bars around.
- Activities for Kids at Dinner - We like Play Packs, sticker books, these little grid blocks, and Wiki Sticks, They don't have anything like crayons to hand out to the kids at the restaurants.
- Few Small Toys or Books - Depending on your kid's age and temper, it might be helpful to bring a few small toys or books for them to use in the room during any downtime you have.
Baby & Toddler Items
- Diapers
- Wipes
- Baby Sunscreen
- Extra Clothes - There is no laundry in the room, so I'd bring lots of extra clothes for a baby.
- Travel Stroller - The year we went when the boys were younger we bought this small double travel stroller. It was great in the airport and also for going to dinner because there is a lot of walking at the resort and they got tired. Older kids will be fine, but I'd consider bringing something for younger kids to ride in. Check with your airlines on what you are allowed to bring with you.
- Inflatable Bed Bumpers - If you have younger toddlers or kids who are rollers, these inflatable bed bumpers are wonderful to use. We used this pump with it.
Do Not Bring
- Beach Towels
- Life Jackets - They have life jackets in the watersports area. I'd bring just a puddle jumper instead.
- Snorkeling Gear - They have snorkeling gear including fins and masks to borrow.
- Uncomfortable Shoes - There is a lot of walking!
- Anything Too Fancy
- Anything Too Valuable
- Adapters - The rooms have plugs and outlets that work with American things.
- Your Entire Wallet - Don't bring your entire wallet. Select what you need to travel and leave the rest at home.
