Hi everyone! We just got back from a lovely week in Watercolor, Florida. Watercolor is a small community along the 30A section of the Florida panhandle, just East of Destin. It sits next to Seaside, Florida, which is famous for the movie, The Truman Show. This strip of Florida is known for its charming seaside towns, powder white sand beaches, and turquoise water that resembles the Caribbean.
Watercolor is one of those charming, picturesque towns with many fun family amenities, making it a fun family vacation spot. I'll share a travel and restaurant guide for the area in the coming weeks, but I just first wanted to share some of my favorite family photos from our trip. If you love small beach towns like I do, you must add this one to your destination wish list.
I'll kick things off with some beach photos! The boys had a blast on the beach and enjoyed playing in the powder sand perfect for digging.
And you can see the gorgeous water below. In the summer it gets calm like glass.
Both boys loved running up and down the beach.
And Hunter, like always, made a sand pillow. He's been doing this at the beach since he was a baby. We always say "It's not a beach trip until Hunter makes a sand pillow!"
We brought the turtle floats again, and they were a hit.
They are just the right size for the boys to ride in the waves.
These are the favorite floats we've had!
Another highlight of the trip was our rental house came with a golf cart, so we got around all week in that and skipped the car. It made the whole week even more magical.
And we also got around by bikes. The boys are finally able to do it!
Watercolor was a super family-friendly community with lots of shaded paths to explore, plus access to a gorgeous beach club and a kid's pool area with slides. and a lazy river. You can't beat a waterslide with kids!
We also loved that Watercolor was right next to Seaside, Florida which is full of restaurants and cute amenities.
The charming little town was perfect for exploring.
We even got to see their Farmer's Market!
We also had some delicious food and had some nice dinners out.
It's getting a lot easier to eat out with them, which is such a blessing!
One of our favorite spots had this gorgeous waterfront outdoor dining area with all sorts of pretty tropical plants.
We got lucky enough to catch a pretty sunset that night.
And here are my boys!
And one final sunset over the beach in the distance! So pretty.
Watercolor was such a fun place to visit. I can't wait to share more about it with you in the coming weeks because I think you will think it's pretty cool too.
I'm so glad we got to go on this trip! This was where we were planning on going in April 2020, but that got canceled and we never rebooked this spot. And then after we lost the Hub's Dad, we had to move this trip again. But, we were luckily able to figure out how to still go and I'm so grateful we got some much-needed relaxation and family time. I'm not sure a trip was ever more needed in our lives.
Stand by for more fun from Florida. 🙂
