Hi friends!
When I was in Brazil I ate so much acai. Street vendors sold it everywhere, even on the beach! I think I might have had an acai cup everyday. It was the first time I had a smoothie-like treat with granola on top. First bite and I was sold. There is something about the crunchy granola on top of the thick, cold creamy fruit. It's a match made in healthy foodie heaven.
Since acai is not that easy to find, I decided to make an acai smoothie bowl inspired substitute that reminded me of the flavors in the Brazilian treat.
The result is my Triple Berry Smoothie Bowl!
This bowl may look fancy, but it is really quite simple to put together and could easily be part of your morning routine. The frozen triple berry blend is a nice substitute for acai.
A healthy smoothie bowl is thicker than a regular smoothie, so it sits in the bowl perfectly just waiting to be eaten with a spoon. I feel like it is much more satisfying than a drink because you feel like you are actually eating a meal.
My Triple Berry Smoothie Bowl features frozen bananas, frozen triple berry blend, a handful of spinach and a milk of your choice. It could easily be vegan if you use a milk substitute.
After it's blended, spoon it into a flat bowl and smooth out the top.
Then comes the fun part. The toppings!
I used fresh blackberries, fresh sliced strawberries, unsweetened coconut and Quaker® Real Medleys SuperGrains Granola. I picked the Blueberry Pecan flavor to add even more berry punch to the Triple Berry Smoothie Bowl.
Real Medleys SuperGrains Granola is such a fun addition. It has a special blend of seven super grains and seeds, fruits and nuts which provide fiber, ALA omega-3 and whole grains. The SuperGrains include whole grain oats, whole grain wheat, flaxseed, red quinoa, sunflower seeds, amaranth and barley.
Adding it to your smoothie bowl, yogurt or oatmeal is a great way to start off your day. It really gives a boost to your morning meal.
Plus it tastes great. I'm kind of in love with the little dried blueberries in it. Yum! Yum!
You can find it at Walmart near the cereal and other Quaker products.
To finish the bowl, place the toppings in any manner, but my Type A self really loves these pretty straight lines.
The finished healthy smoothie bowl is not only nutritious, but really delicious.
That granola crunch gets me every time! Make sure to check out Quaker® Real Medleys SuperGrains Granola the next time you are at the store.

I love smoothie bowls- they really do feel more substantial when they are thick. This one sounds great! Pinned!

I'm not much into smoothies but I do love yogurt and this sounds like it has the consistency of yogurt. I really am going to have to try one of those Quaker granolas--even if I end up topping some store bought yogurt with it!!
JulieWunder says
It is thicker than a regular smoothie-- so you might like it. The granola would be wonderful with your yogurt as well.
Jenn - a traveling Wife says

This looks tasty and so colorful. We eat with our eyes! Sometimes I am not full when drinking smoothies, so eating a smothie bowl would probably do the trick.
JulieWunder says
It's a funny little mind trick 🙂 And the extra hearty toppings on top help too.
Robin Masshole mommy says

JulieWunder says
Thanks Robin!
Blane Sherer says
Nice alternative to the more typical smoothie.
I think if I were eating something I would go
for the smoothie , but if not this looks like
a more substantial choice. I can see this as being
a snack in an of itself.
JulieWunder says
Absolutely! It's really good!
Dannii @ Hungry Healthy Happy says
We are smoothie bowl obsessed in our house. They just feel like much more of a meal when they are eaten out of a bowl like this.
JulieWunder says
I could not agree more! Thanks Dannii!
