Hi everyone,
The past few weeks have brought some amazing pregnancy adventures and a lot of big changes. I had my last two showers which included a neighborhood shower and a Couples Luau Shower that my Dad and Brother were able to come to. I also finally got to do my maternity photoshoot after getting rained out several times. The third trimester started and almost like clockwork, I started feeling more and more pregnancy pains, exhaustion and problems. The boys are still doing great though, which is what is really important. I count my blessings daily that I'm getting to share these updates with you.
So without further ado, let's dive in!
Twin Pregnancy Weeks 28-32
Bump Watch…
The bump is officially out of control. Here it is at 29 weeks...
And here's a photo at 31 weeks. I was measuring 35 weeks at the doctor's office this week, which they said was normal with twins. I wouldn't be surprised if I was measuring very close to 40 now. This Sunday marks 32 weeks.
Doctor's Appointments...
I've had several doctor's appointments over the past few weeks. Week 28 I had an appointment with my regular OB. I was getting a lot of pain in my chest, which she thought was heartburn and we upped my heartburn medicine. I also had my glucose test and I passed it! I was super nervous about it because I had read it is harder to pass with a twin pregnancy regardless of how well you eat.
Week 28 I also had a growth scan at the high-risk doctor and they once again said everything looked perfect. At that appointment, both boys were head down and weighed close to 3 pounds already.
Week 30 I had another routine appointment with my regular OB office but with a different doctor in the rotation. They are going to see me every other week for a while now. By this point, the pain in my chest had turned into this crazy sharp shooting pain that I could not seem to get any relief from. It is so bad it brought me to tears. I was also getting Braxton Hicks contractions almost anytime I was up and moving. Sitting made it worse, standing was sometimes ok and the only thing that helped was laying down. I questioned whether it was heartburn at all because I didn't have any other symptoms of heartburn other than this pain. She decided to have me come back for a gallbladder ultrasound (which turned up nothing) but also suggested I see a chiropractor to see if they could help. She thought the pain was probably not heartburn and maybe something muscle-skeletal simply from having two babies on a small frame. They did check the babies position again and Baby B is now sitting transverse against my ribs which wasn't helping. Otherwise, she said there was nothing they could do but suggested it was time for me to start resting more.
I went to the chiropractor twice and honestly, I don't think it's helped. I've had to come to terms with needing to lay down a lot and only being able to do a fraction of what I'd like to do in a day. I knew I'd have to spend a lot of time resting at the end of this pregnancy and knew it would be uncomfortable but I honestly didn't expect the kind of pain I've been having especially with up to 7 weeks left to go. Thank goodness though it doesn't seem to be impacting the babies health at all.
I have another regular OB appointment and growth scan next week!
How I’ve Been Feeling…
I talked about this last Friday and above, but it's been a rough few weeks simply in terms of how I've been feeling. It's hard to breathe, hard to get up, I can't sleep well, my feet are hurting and I'm in a good deal of pain. I'm trying to cope and find ways to stay positive, do what I can in short bursts and take it one day at a time. I know what a miracle it is that I'm pregnant at all and many couples would kill to be in my shoes, so I'm also just trying to keep that grateful heart. If you are in those shoes, please don't think I'm complaining about this pregnancy... I'm merely documenting it for myself and maybe others who are in the same boat in the future. I know I am still lucky.
Highlights...
Despite not feeling good some pretty amazing things have happened in the past few weeks! The Hubs and I celebrated our last two showers with close friends and family. The Luau Couple Shower was simply a dream come true. It was nice to do a co-ed event so my Dad and Brother could come since my Mom is no longer with us.
My lovely neighbors also through us a party for the street and we had the best time. I can't rave enough about how lucky I am to live in such a wonderful community.
On the last week I was allowed to travel, the Hubs and I snuck away for one last beach trip alone. We had the BEST time at Hilton Head Island for a mini babymoon.
AND I did my maternity photo shoot! I'll be sharing the pictures with you guys when I get them back from the photographer. Here's a little sneak peek though...
Food Aversions or Cravings…
I haven't been nearly as hungry lately and food generally hasn't been appealing as it was early on in the pregnancy. I still have a thing for Velveeta Shells and Cheese, which is awful... I know! I've been eating smaller portions too and it hurts a lot if we go out and I overeat.
Fitness…
There hasn't been much fitness at all happening lately. I was walking the mile-long neighborhood loop several times a week but in the past few weeks, I can't even do that anymore. I've been trying to go to prenatal yoga but it hurts to drive so I've been doing some stretching at home and walking the quarter mile to the end of the street when I feel like I can just keep the blood moving.
Maternity Clothes…
I actually have a really cute assortment of fall maternity clothes that my neighbor Emily let me borrow, but I haven't used them yet because it's been so warm! It looks like I'll get to wear them next week though. I bought a few post-pregnancy and hospital items, but at this point, I'm trying to get by with what I have. I do desperately need to go buy a pair of closed toe shoes that fit. The only thing I can really wear right now is one pair of tennis shoes and flip-flops.
Nursery…
The Hubs has been a saint putting together everything we've gotten for the babies as it's come in the house and the basics of the nursery are all there. We even got a new closet organizer for the room and the Hubs is working on getting it together now. We just need to organize and hang stuff. We also started washing the baby clothes this week so hopefully, that will be done by the time the closet is.
Gender and Names…
They are still boys and we've narrowed it down to three names. And I can't believe I haven't made my mind up either. 🙂
That wraps it up! Sorry to be long-winded, but I'm hoping this posts might help someone who's also experiencing a twin pregnancy down the line so I'm trying to be a little detail oriented. Thanks for following along!

You are amazing for how well you are holding together! You are probably one of the most disciplined pregnant women I've "never" met!
Sending loving prayers for relief from your pain. 🙂

My second pregnancy was way tougher than my first, and I can't imagine what it would have felt like if I was growing TWO babies! Hang in there. This part will all be over soon and you'll (somewhat) push the memories of the pain to the back of your mind when they're here. 🙂

You're growing 2 babies and that's hard on anyone. I know it's hard to say the pain and discomfort will be worth it in the end because with 7 weeks to go that seems far. I really hope you try to take it day by day and just give yourself the grace you deserve right now Julie 🙂 I can't wait to see the nursery!!

Pregnancy with one baby was tough--I can't imagine growing 2 babies! Many of us compare running a marathon to pregnancy--so now you are in the final 10k. Hang in there. The finish line is in sight.
