I love an excuse to get dressed up for a party! Last Saturday night my hubby and I got all dolled up to go to the The Blue Ridge Humane Society’s Wags to Riches event at the Hendersonville Country Club.
You can never go wrong with a simple black cocktail dress, heals and pearls.
The event was extra special for me because the Blue Ridge Humane Society honored me as their volunteer of the year for my work with Pet Pals. Little ole me! I still can’t believe it.
If you aren’t a WNC reader, Pet Pals was my pet adoption project with WLOS. I produced and reported a twice weekly segment featuring local animals for adoption. Over the course of 11 years, thousands of animals found homes after being shown on TV. Pet Pals was the single hardest thing to give up when I left WLOS. Luckily the segment lives on with another reporter.
I got to make a little speech and thank everyone for continuing to support me here on Running in a Skirt. There are so many hard working animals lovers who do so much for homeless animals in this community, I feel like such a small part of the movement.
This award though, is now one of my cherished items now.
The rest of the evening was full of swanky fun including a silent auction.
Dancing with Elvis.
Delicious food and desserts
And of course, puppies, all dressed up for the occasion.
This one my friends, is crazy cute, has soft boxer-like ears and is available at the Blue Ridge Humane Society. Email brhsadopt@gmail.com if you are interested.
What a fun night! Thank you again to the Blue Ridge Humane Society for the award and hosting such a delightful event!
And oh yeah, it is #FashionFriday after all.
The dress. Oh how I love this dress. The skirt twirls like a ballerina outfit. I believe every girl should have at least one go-to little black dress.
It’s White House Black Market. The pearls are from my wedding, the purse is old Banana Republic and the shoes are BCBG.
Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

Your turn!
Would anyone be interested in reading a monthly post about which animals are up for adoption at several WNC animal shelters? I’m trying to find a way to continue to help find these babies homes!
