Reina Update!

Good news!  Reina's vet visit Friday went great. 

Our vet retested her eye and the ulceration on the cornea healed and the treatment worked.  She got her cone off and quickly returned to her chipper self.  Whew- what a relief!  I am so glad we do not have to give her pills and drops every four hours anymore.

Thank you so everyone who asked about how she was doing.  I'd say hopefully we will not be making anymore trips to the vet anytime soon... but both Rhett and Reina are desperatly due for some dental work this Fall.  Ugh....

Happy Birthday Melanie

Friday night we had a wonderful time celebrating my good friend Melanie's birthday.  Her husband Jason put on a totally fabulous PINK themed soirée outside on a perfect fall evening, complete with a campfire and 12 bones dinner.  What a wonderful night to celebrate one of most genuine and kind people I know.

NWA Broadcast Seminar

This past weekend was super busy because I also had to go to Charleston and back for the National Weather Association Conference Broadcast Seminar.  I needed to attend to get some points to renew my weather certifications.   I got in and out of town pretty quickly so I don't have the normal fun pictures- all buisness this time!

The agenda was actually pretty interesting and I got some tips on using social media, thoughts on better ways to describe things like storm surge to the public and ways to use an iPad during my weathercasts.  I got some great take away tips for my job.

The highlight was running into my old friend Mike Bettes.  It was great to see him and I really enjoyed his presentation on storm chasing focusing on the tornado chase that went so wrong last May.  He and his crew were almost killed when a tornado he was tracking took an unexpected path.  Thank god he is ok!  I was surprised to hear that he will be doing more storm chasing in the future.  However, he said they will approach the storms with more care.
