Hi everyone! Today marks 6 weeks since Helene hit and it is the first week that the boys have been back to school for normal hours. It felt amazing for all of us to get back to our routine, although getting up early again after so many weeks would be tough. I was worried about transitioning back to school, but the boys have actually done well and I think slowly starting back actually helped us.
Life is feeling a lot more stable and we are getting more used to the new normal. We lost power once this week, but it came back on the same day. We also still don't have potable water and heard it might be December before we do. We have been able to find bottled water, but it's a pain. There are also big debris piles still everywhere, but we are finally starting to see huge trucks driving around picking it all up. It's been hard, but we are finally feeling like we have our footing with all of this. The boys going back to school has helped so much.
Once again, many people in the mountains are still rebuilding and struggling much more than us though, so keep them in your prayers.
Here's the boys on the second "first" day of school.
We spent the weekend having a few more big trees on our lot cut down because they were leaning toward our neighbor's house. We have so much debris and wood in our yard from that now. This is what the piles look like all over the neighborhood. There are finally trucks coming around to pick it up, so it is getting better.
The boys got eye protection and helped Daddy move more wood this weekend! I'm proud of them for helping!
We also squeezed in one last fall thing before school went back full-time. We normally go apple picking several times, but hadn't gone at all because of the storm.
I was so happy to see so many of the orchards in Hendersonville back open, and they are even extending their season to try to attract more business.
If you are local, visiting them is a great way to support them.
The boys loved picking apples!
It hadn't felt like fall without doing this, so I'm so happy we could go! The boys were in the best mood all day talking about it.
That's all for this week! I can't believe we are already a week into November. The boy's birthday party is this weekend and their actual birthday is coming up next week. It's always so bittersweet! I can't believe they will be 6. Once again, thanks for following along and caring about my little family. 🙂
