Hi y'all! In honor of the Friends reunion this week, I want to call this post, The One Where Life Kind of Goes Back to Normal! We are finally both fully vaccinated and the longest tax season ever is over, so this week felt as normal and fun as anything in a long, long time.
Get ready for the most action packed Weekly Happenings you've seen in FOREVER.
We kicked off the weekend with a quick kid-free day trip to Hilton Head! We had childcare for the day and were able to go down for just a few hours to have lunch and sit on the beach for a very short time. It takes a little over an hour to get there in the plane.
It was our first time eating out and it was so wonderful. We had a delightful meal on Hudson's dock with all the seafood including these chargrilled oysters. After a year of staying and eating at home, it was the perfect break.
These oysters were DREAMY.
We were back home to do bedtime with the twins AND we also brought home a take and bake meal from another one of our favorite restaurants on the island, Charlies. We sat on our deck and enjoyed the meal once the babies went to sleep.
It was one of the nicest days I've had in a long time. I love traveling with the twins, but a kid-free day was just what we needed.
Don't worry, we also had lots of fun with twins this week too. We decided to let the boy's start playing with some select friends again. They haven't played with anyone in over a year, and they really need it for development. Our wonderful neighbor invited us over to play with water toys so the boy's got all suited up!
My neighbor got the water table and baby pool out, but all the boys just wanted to play with this truck toy set up. It is pretty darn cool!
We have THE BEST neighbors and it's been such a blessing to be able to spend more time with them now.
On Sunday the family worked on our raised bed vegetable garden. The Hub's got the hose and dirt set up and then the twins and I worked on planting. They were actually KIND OF helpful.
I got them their own pots this year with some lettuce seeds. I thought it would grow fast and give us a lesson in gardening.
Here's what it looks like this year. I planted zucchini, squash, butternut squash, cucumber, radish, eggplant, lots of peppers and green bean seeds. This is the latest I've ever planted it, so we'll see how it does.
We celebrated finishing up the garden by taking the boys to their first ice cream shop. They sat in their own chairs outside and got such a kick out of the treat AND watching all the trucks drive by in the parking lot. 🙂
They haven't been much of anywhere during all of this, so it was so wonderful to do something that felt so normal.
What a week! I'm finally breathing a bit easier and so grateful for somewhat of a return to normal life.
This weekend we have a dinner date AND my Brother is coming to visit. I haven't seen them since early last March. I'm so excited and grateful.
I hope you had a nice week too. I'd love to know what you've been up to as well. Are you getting back to "normal?"

I'm so happy for you all getting to go out and about more. We are doing the same and it feels wonderful after a year and a half of staying in so much. The smiles on the twins' faces at the ice cream parlor just says it all!!
