Hi friends! This past weekend was absolutely glorious in the mountains. The highs were in the 60s and 70s for several days in a row and I took advantage of the break in winter the enjoy it. I call it "fake spring" because we always seem to get a few days like this in last February or early March that makes you think spring is here, but then winter comes back for a few more weeks. That's where we are at now, BUT I really enjoyed the time we got.
On Friday I took the boys for a little nature walk at the park. They ended up walking almost a mile!
We stopped a lot to look at the trees and throw rocks in the river, but it was a good time.
We all, including myself, just do better when we get outside.
On Friday afternoon our mulch for the season was delivered, which might as well be a holiday for the boys. They played on the pile with their trucks and shovels and had a lot of fun. Our neighbors ended up coming over to play on our playground too. It was a wonderful day.
On Saturday the Hubs and I went on a date to the Grove Park Inn! It was warm and so lovely. I had planned to wear a sweater and boots, but I couldn't resist the spring dress when the thermometer popped into the '70s.
We ate at the Edison for the first time. This was my favorite dish... the Octopus.
The sunset was spectacular. You really can't beat the views at this place.
On Sunday I woke up early for a sunrise run. It was even warm overnight and was in the '50s even early in the day. My favorite days are ones where I get to see a sunrise and sunset.
I ran early because the boys had a big day! They got to go to their first swim lesson. They were SO excited and did so well. They are already pretty comfortable in the water, so we're trying to teach them some basics so they can be safer in the water.
They ended up spending an hour in the pool and begged to stay longer. They'll be taking lessons for the next few weeks, and I'm super grateful are able to do that for them.
We had a lovely picnic lunch on Sunday after the lessons and spent the entire rest of the day outside. It was everything I needed. 🙂
The rest of the week has been rainy and cold, but ohhhh fake spring was good for my heart and soul. It was the first time in a very, very, very long time that everything just kind of felt normal.
I hope you had a nice week too. Come back tomorrow for a special Saturday post about ways to embrace spring early!

Spring is my favorite - sunrises, sunsets, and everything in between! But, it's like that here in Texas, too - there's a teaser spring before the real springy-spring.
