Hi everyone! We are safe, but I'm writing from a smoky Asheville. Due to high winds, record low humidity, a severe lack of rain, and Hurricane Helene debris all over the woods, wildfires have popped up this week around us. One is just to the South of us, with evacuations taking place. We'll hopefully be fine, but when the intense smoke starts spreading everywhere, it is hard not to be a little panicked because we don't know how bad it is going to get. Due to the smoke, we've been told to stay inside and even keep the kids inside, which is not fun at all.
Our poor community has been through so much and I can't believe people are having to evacuate again. Please send some prayers to our area for some much-needed rain. We need a break from natural disasters.
The highlight of the week has been starting baseball again. The Hubs is coaching this year, and I'm helping with the team, so that's super fun. Our team seems nice! We had a tryout and our first practice, but the second practice got canceled because of smoke. We were all really bummed.
Before the smoke got bad, we also enjoyed lots of time outdoors with friends this week. We had a birthday party at the park over the weekend.
We also hung out with our neighbors for a few days.
We also got our playground area cleaned up, including getting new playground mulch.
It had been kind of a mess since the storm, so I'm happy to have it back in order.
And finally, the boys wanted to take a photo this week, complete with asking for individual ones. I can't get over how big they are getting. My heart is so full that they are mine.
Hope everyone is having an ok week! Please send some prayers our way so that we can get these fires out.
Julie
