Hi everyone! I can't believe it's the weekend before Christmas! This season has flown by. We spent this last week doing a few more of our Christmas traditions and some of the final preparations for Christmas this week. The boys have been extra fun this year because they are really into it all and now remember the stuff year to year, plus old enough so it's easier for everyone to enjoy it. As of this afternoon we are officially on winter break.
One of the week's highlights was going to the Winter Lights at the Arboretum. With the damage to the property from Helene, it's amazing that they pulled this off and I'm so glad they did!
The lights were as beautiful as ever, and it was so nice that in the dark (without seeing all the tree damage), it felt exactly the same.
We all look forward to this each year and I love how they seem to add more and more each year.
Such a fun family activity for families in WNC!
Our other Christmas tradition is going to the Grove Park to eat and see the Gingerbread houses. The Gingerbread competition was canceled this year, due to Helene, so we debated on whether to still go, but we decided that the pretty trees, views, and fabulous food were still worth the effort.
We had the best lunch at Edison's! They have such yummy food there.
We also enjoyed the pretty Christmas displays and trees.
And they did have a few gingerbread houses to see. This one celebrated WNC touched my heart.
And somehow Jackson talked us into bringing his stuffed Great White Shark with us... :-)!
Such a beautiful family outing!
And we were also able to go to the boy's school to decorate Gingerbread houses with the entire Kindergarten.
It was an adorable time and I'm so happy the school did this.
We are so looking forward to the next week and enjoying some family time. I hope everyone has a lovely weekend and is getting ready for the big day. 🙂
